Newark, NJ, August 18, 2010 – Healthfirst NJ partnered with The New Jersey Primary Care Association for National Health Center Week. The nationally recognized initiative takes place every year during the second week of August. As part of the weeklong celebration, Healthfirst NJ provided children with school supplies and informed families about affordable healthcare coverage.  Healthfirst NJ supported more than ten events at health centers located in Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex and Union counties.

“Healthfirst NJ is proud to take part in these events because they provide a platform to raise awareness about health, wellness, and education,” said Terence L. Byrd, Healthfirst NJ President. “Since these events are community-centric, the information provided continues to build local pride and expands overall knowledge of local health resources available,” said Byrd.

Families were encouraged to come out and share in the fun as Healthfirst NJ sponsored Back-to-School themed events at many health centers throughout northern New Jersey, where they distributed back packs and school supplies to families in attendance.
