Hurricane Irene Advisory
Hurricane Irene is a powerful and extremely dangerous storm. The shore region and areas of New Jersey that normally flood are likely to be seriously affected. A State of Emergency is in effect, and all New Jersey residents should be preparing appropriately.
If you are not in an area to be evacuated and can safely stay at home, make sure you have enough food, water, medications, flashlights and batteries, etc.
If your area is being evacuated, Your local, county or State emergency management officials will notify your neighborhood of the need to Evacuate or take other Protective Actions.
They will do this through Emergency Alert System messages on local radio and TV. They may also alert entire areas by calling your home. Officials may even travel with bullhorns in certain areas. If you have a battery-powered radio, make sure that it has fresh batteries.
