NJ FamilyCare - Benefits

What is covered by Healthfirst’s NJ FamilyCare program?

NJ FamilyCare from Healthfirst offers your family many health care services, or “benefits.” Here are a few:

  • Regular checkups and doctor visits
  • Hospital visits
  • Lab tests and x-rays
  • Prescription medicines
  • Mental health/substance abuse services (Covered for DDD members, all others are covered under Fee For Service)
  • Eyeglasses
  • Dental care (for all children and some adults)

Once you sign up for NJ FamilyCare, you will need to choose a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). Your HMO will help you get health services for your family. You can choose from 2-4 HMOs in each NJ county. Depending on your family’s yearly income, some services may be limited.

Also, with Healthfirst’s NJ FamilyCare program, you will have little to no “co-pay” (extra payment) when someone in your family sees a doctor or needs medicine.
