Are you pregnant or a new mom? Are you a little scared? Need real advice, but not sure where to start? If you do, you’re not alone. But there is help – and it’s free!
To help new and expectant moms and dads through pregnancy and baby’s first year, Healthfirst NJ has joined with the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition to offer text4baby, a free text service to help pregnant women, new mothers and babies get and stay healthy.
What is text4baby?
Text4baby is a free text service that gives pregnant women helpful advice during each pregnancy week, and new moms with baby care tips during baby's first year of life.
Text4baby messages also connect women to pregnancy and infant care services and other useful community resources.
Who uses text4baby?
Since text4baby started in February 2010:
• Almost all text4baby users (96%) say they would recommend the service to a friend.
• Over 131,000 parents have enrolled in text4baby.
• Text4baby is available for free to all pregnant women and new parents in the United States.

How do I sign up?
Sign up for the service by texting BABY (or BEBE for Spanish messages) to 511411. Text4baby will ask you for your due date or baby’s date of birth and your ZIP code. You will then get 3 text messages full of healthy tips each week, and the texts will be timed to your pregnancy week or your baby's age.
How long can I subscribe to text4baby? How do I stop getting messages?
You can get the messages throughout your pregnancy and up until your baby's first birthday. You can stop getting text4baby messages anytime by texting STOP to 511411.
Am I charged for the text messages?
No. All text messages between you and text4baby are free. If you think you have been charged for messages to or from text4baby, please call your cell phone provider right away. They will give you a refund if you have been charged for the text4baby service by mistake.
